The Event:
A walk of 7.9 miles from Ringmer, across the Lewes Downs to the Iron Age fort at Mount Caburn. There are some spectacular views from the 150 meter mount (see photos). Although our group hasn't walked that section of the Downs yet this year, if you look to the south and east from the mount you may see some villages and landmarks that you recognise from our previous walks. The walk is mainly across open countryside, but will include some rather steep uneven paths.
We will walk at a medium pace and there will be interesting features to stop and look at along the way.
We will take a break during the walk. There will not be an opportunity to purchase food during the walk, so please bring a packed lunch if you wish to eat anything when we take the break.

Fee:
There is a £1 'Event Fee' chargeable per person for this event that is payable on the day. Please note that I conduct at least one recce of the intended route prior to all of my walks, regardless of whether it is a walk that is familiar to me or not. My walks use a variety of public footpaths, permissive paths, bridleways etc. In exceptional circumstances changes to the intended route may have to be made on the day, and this could result in a change in the length of the walk.

Assembly in Ringmer:
We will assemble at 10:45am in the Anchor Field Car Park, Ringmer, BN8 5QW.
The walk will commence at 11am, or sooner if all attendees are present.

Travel and Parking:
Please allow plenty of time for your journey.
Parking in the Anchor Field Car Park is free of charge. If the car park is full on the day, you should find space in the nearby roads.
If you need a lift to get to the event, then you may use event 'Comments' to request this, stating your whereabouts. If you are fortunate enough to be offered a lift by another member, then please offer to contribute to their costs. Do not RSVP to the event until your transport has been confirmed.
If you are coming by public transport, the Stagecoach planner is excellent and even gives you a map of the journey.
