Firle Beacon circular walk, 7 miles

Details
This circular walk of just under 7 miles starts from picturesque Firle village and continues with a fairly strenuous climb up to Firle Beacon. When we've got our breath back, we'll walk at a moderate pace along a stunning stretch of the South Downs way, affording wonderful views across the East Sussex countryside and the Channel.
The total ascent is 850 feet, and most of this is in the first mile and a half. You'll need good grippy walking shoes or boots as both ascents and descents are steep in places.
The Ram Inn, just behind the village car park, is open from 9 a.m. for breakfasts and/or drinks, and also has accessible loos.
We'll be having a short break just before halfway, so please bring any drinks and snacks you require for the walk. We'll also be stopping at Charleston Farmhouse about 2 miles before the end of our walk, which has a café and loos. The final leg takes us through parkland, past Firle Place and back to the village.
We'll meet in the car park from 10 a.m. for a 10.15 start. Unfortunately, this is not a suitable walk for dogs.
