East Dean and Cuckmere Haven circular, 7.2miles
Details
This lovely walk is no. 23 from Ordnance Survey's publication '100 Outstanding British Walks', all of which have been recommended by a group of experienced authors and guides. Last time I led this we started from Exceat, but this time we'll be starting from the free East Dean Village Car park.
After the steepish ascent to Crowlink, we'll follow the downland path to the Seven Sisters, on a stretch of the South Downs Way. We descend to the Cuckmere Valley, walking adjacent to the meanders of the Cuckmere to Exceat. We then return to East Dean via the wide paths of Friston Forest'
The total ascent is 1350 ft, and some of the climbs are long and steep (we'll climb four of the Seven Sisters), so please only book a place if you are comfortable with this. We'll be walking at a moderate pace.
There are loos and refreshments available at the start and also at the Seven Sisters visitors centre just over halfway round.
We'll be taking a couple of stops, so please bring any drinks or snacks you require for the walk.
After the walk, we have the Hikers Rest and the Tiger Inn for refreshments.
Unfortunately, this is not a suitable walk for dogs.
