PARKING & ASSEMBLY
There should be space to park along Church Lane on the same side as the church as there is no service on the 25th October. You may want to come early to visit this church with its beautiful ironstone chancel arch and carved animals.
We aim to start walking at 10:45.
TOILET
Possibly available at start and end of the walk.
LUNCH
We will stop for lunch. Please bring your own favourite sustenance and something to sit on. We will probably have a second brief stop for a snack and sit down.
OUR WALK
This circular walk is an easy 7.5 mile walk exploring apple orchards, grassy fields, and hidden bridleways. There are big skies and excellent views. From the church we head to Peasmarsh and a wildlife conservation area followed by apple orchards and Iden Park, a former Victorian rectory. From there we work our way south towards Rye dropping down to the River Tillingham. Finally, we walk through fields of sheep with a gradual incline back up to the church. Paths and tracks are well used and in good condition. There are a few sturdy stiles. We only undulate a total ascent of 217m/712ft.
Depending on the weather, I may do the route in reverse - either way works.
GROUP MEMBERSHIP FEE
This walk is for members of the 'East Sussex Walking' Meetup group and their guests. If you wish to join this walk and are not currently a paid-up member of this group, please follow this link for further details: www.meetup.com/eastsussexwalking . Our group intro includes details of how to apply to join the group as well as how to make payment of your £5 annual membership fee to the group's bank account once your application has been accepted.
IMPORTANT
1. To contact me on the walk day, please phone/text me rather than messaging Meetup. I will send my number to attendees a couple of days before the walk.
2. Please remember that accidents can happen anywhere. You take part at your own risk, and the walk leader cannot be held responsible for any injuries.
3. Consider bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat, rain jacket, warm jacket, gloves/warm hat depending on the weather, and of course wear comfortable footwear. Walking poles are always useful.
