Debates on saving the climate often revolve around ending capitalism or leveraging it. A popular activist slogan, “System Change, not Climate Change,” is a good example of this divide.
What is your perspective?
- Is a change of system the necessary?
- What should the new system look like, and how could a transition period be organised?
- What are other reasons to change the system?
- What is broken: Capitalism? Patriarchy? Politics? Human interactions?
- Is the system the biggest barrier for mass personal development, growth and a meaningful life?
- What emotions are involved in wanting a system change?
These are just a few topic ideas that anyone can be suggested for the discussion. We would love to hear yours!

Earth & Society Dialogues is a group aiming to bring together people with interest in discussing issues related to climate change and the coping of societies in the Anthropocene — the current geological age where humans are the biggest driver of geological and ecological change.
Our events are a healthy discussion forum, open to people from all backgrounds, that aims at providing the time and space for new thoughts to emerge, and ideas to spread.
Each of our meetings has a general theme, however, the discussion is led by the participants themselves. This process starts by the participants suggesting their own topics related to the general theme. After which, people divide into small groups where they get to know each other better and dive deeper into their topics of interest.
You don’t need to be very enthusiastic about sustainability to enjoy this meeting; in fact, many of the participants aren’t. You just need to be open to listen, understand, and communicate with no judgement.
