Let’s hike to Spencer Creek!

Join us for this great hike!

Please meet us in the public lot behind Home Hardware at 900 Railway Avenue in Canmore. We leave right at 9:00 am. Drive South on the Smith Dorrien gravel road for 23K to the unmarked trailhead on the left. It is about 4K after the Driftwood Day Use Area.

Note about carpooling: You can choose to drive yourself to the trailhead. If you choose to carpool there is a $10 carpool fee payable to the driver. Please bring correct change and pay your driver at the start.

The trail starts climbing immediately in the trees through a beautiful mossy area with a small scenic creek running through it. We then enter more open terrain running above the creek. It climbs steadily the whole way. Eventually we arrive above tree-line where the creek leaves the meadow and heads down the hill. We may or may not be able to cross the creek and continue depending on how much water is rushing. The hike ends below Mount Lougheed. We’ll find a place for lunch and go back the way we came.
Total distance is around 10K and about 1900 feet elevation gain.

Bring bear spray, bug spray, sunscreen, layers, raingear, warm hat, gloves, lunch, water, tea, seat pad, etc
