Jerusalem Bay to Hawkesbury River (14km) Medium-Grade 3
Details
This walk takes us to one of the most iconic views along the Great North Walk. From Cowan station, the walk passes through a variety of environments as we descend (200M) down to picturesque Jerusalem Bay. Jerusalem Bay is a great place to relax and have a break before a (200m) steep climb up the ridge, passing caverns, where we have lunch, following the ridge top lookouts with water views including a circumnavigation of Brooklyn Dam whilst enjoying a wonderful diversity of flora along the way, finishing the walk at Hawkesbury River station with a (200M) steep descent into Brooklyn by 3:00pm.
NOTE: There are no toilets at the start or during the walk, until the end. NO EXIT POINTS!!
There are toilets on board CCN (Central Coast & Newcastle Line) Trains.
TRANSPORT: 8:48am (CCN) train from Central Station Platform 8 CAR 6-10, arriving at Cowan Station at 9:40am. (Check Opal Trip Planner for updates).
BRING: 3 litres of water, hydralyte tablets, snacks, lunch, sun protection, first aid kit, Bushmans reppellant, rain gear, hiking shoes.

NOTE: If you are feeling unwell or unfit please stay home! Limit of 30 people only for safety so please only RSVP if 100% committed to attend! There is no excuse for not updating your RSVP in a timely manner for those on the waitlist to be able to attend. Accumulative NO-SHOWS, late cancellations, and members who display disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour will be banned from the group. Members who show up for events inadequately packed with essential supplies will not be allowed to attend the event for their own health and safety. Walks are graded according to the difficulty of the terrain and access to exit points. Bushwalking is a skill. Members are responsible for assessing their own fitness and experience level before attending an event. All members are responsible for exercising duty of care for themselves and others. Be conservative for safety!
