This beautiful walk combines the Thornleigh to De Burghs Bridge section of the Great North Walk along Lane Cove River with the Riverside walk to Lane Cove Weir. Starting from Thornleigh station from the top of Lane Cove Valley we descend (100M) down the historic stone steps into the ferny and moist valley beside Lane Cove River following the Great North Walk through dry grass tree and eucalyptus forest until we reach De Burghs bridge, EXIT POINT halfway. Members have the option of finishing the walk up the road at Macquarie Park Station before lunch. We follow the Riverside Walk along Lane Cove River crossing Porters Creek Bridge with beautiful views of the creek to Lane Cove Weir while stopping for lunch at one of the many picnic areas along the way before crossing Fullers Bridge and following the Ferndale Walk Track to Chatswood Station..

TRANSPORT OPTION: 8:03am train from Central Station Platform 18, arriving at Thornleigh Station at 8:47am.

BRING: 3 litres of water, hydralyte tablets, snacks, lunch, sun protection, first aid kit, Bushmans repellant, rain gear, hiking shoes.

NOTE: If you are feeling unwell or unfit please stay home! Limit of 30 people only for safety so please only RSVP if 100% committed to attend! There is no excuse for not updating your RSVP in a timely manner for those on the waitlist to be able to attend. Accumulative NO-SHOWS, late cancellations, and members who display disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour will be banned from the group. Members who show up for events inadequately packed with essential supplies will not be allowed to attend the event for their own health and safety. Walks are graded according to the difficulty of the terrain and access to exit points. Bushwalking is a skill. Members are responsible for assessing their own fitness and experience level before attending an event. All members are responsible for exercising duty of care for themselves and others.
