What we’re about
This is a group for anyone interested in learning about edible wild plants and mushrooms.
Eat the Neighborhood is run by Dave Odd of Odd Produce Inc., Chicago's only full time professional forager. He has been providing foraged local products to Chicago's finest restaurants since 2009. He provides foraging walks and tours of local Chicago neighborhoods and parks to teach people about nature's bounty right in their own backyards.
Specializing in urban foraging, Dave can identify over 1,000 species of edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms and guarantees at least 50 different species per walk. Many walks are paired with local Chicago restaurants which offer a prix fix meal composed of many of the plants and mushrooms seen on the walk. He also has property in Iroquois County IL available for overnight intensive survival campouts and more.

Spooky Forage & Feast @ The Land of Odd in Beaverville IL
250 Bower Rd, Pembroke Township, IL, USLAST CAMPOUT OF THE SEASON!
Spooky Forage & Feast survival camp at The Land of Odd in Iroquois County IL.
An out of the frying pan and into the fire experience at The Land of Odd in Beaverville Illinois (as seen on The Discovery Channel). Everything we eat for the entire weekend will have either been foraged, grown, hunted, or caught in the local area. We will work together as a team to harvest, prepare, and cook a meal made of plants and mushrooms we foraged paired with locally sourced proteins from farmers and hunters. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the sticky crowded city and enjoy the fresh country air, wide open spaces, and actually see the stars at night! Fall mushrooms should still be abundant. We will also explore some haunted locations, hear about the local lore and history, and tell campfire ghost stories.
In addition to foraging and campfire camaraderie other activities may include fishing, nighttime headlamp frog walk, bonfire, finding and identifying local fauna (reptiles, insects, and more), viewing the local bison herd, exploring ruins, maybe a trip to a nearby waterfall, and more. A weekend of experiences to last a lifetime. Dave has done paranormal research since 1998 and will take you to some local haunted places for some spooky experiences and history facts, including the site of the infamous Spilotro Brothers murders (as depicted in the movie Casino).
Pick your own campsite, full bathrooms and showers on site. Come down for the entire weekend or just for a day. Tents and air mattresses available if you don't have your own. Arrive Friday night or Saturday morning, you can leave whenever you'd like and even stay through Monday morning.
$200 per person, $375 per couple. $125 for just a day trip. Group rates. Limited spots available!
