Eat the Neighborhood: Chicagoland Foraging Tours

Forage and Feast happens the first weekend of every month throughout the growing season at The Land of Odd in Beaverville IL. An immersive out of the frying pan and into the fire experience where we will explore the rural wilderness of the Kankakee Sands, foraging for plants and mushrooms while meeting the wildlife of the region along the way. Great fishing is also available. Lots of fun side quests like a gangland history site, a creepy old haunted cemetery, the local Kankakee Sands bison herd, and more. We then return to The Land of Odd with our finds to collectively prepare a communal meal of our spoils, cooked over an open fire.

Outside of salt and oil every ingredient we use will be something we personally foraged or was grown, produced, farmed, or hunted in the local area. All meals provided but feel free to bring snacks or dietary restriction alternatives, fridge is available.

You can come down just for the day, or camp out and spend the weekend (you can arrive Friday night if you’d like). Tents are available by request if you don’t have your own. There is a full bathroom with shower available for campers. The Land of Odd can also accommodate recreational vehicles.

Only $200 per person for both days, $125 for only one day.

Guaranteed to learn about at least 50 edible plants! Meet right in front of North Pond restaurant 2610 N Cannon Dr, Chicago 60614 (not affiliated with the tour).

$40 a person, $70 a pair, group rates available.

We will meet at the benches right in front of North Pond restaurant at the north end of the North Pond. Just bring an umbrella if rain is expected.

FIRST SUBURBAN TOUR OF THE SEASON!

Join Chicago's only full time professional forager Dave Odd for a walk around Olympic Park in Schaumburg to see all the wild and wonderful edible plants (and possibly mushrooms too!) that grow right in your backyard. Guaranteed to learn about at least 50 edible plants and possibly mushrooms too! Meet right on the path between the basketball court and the skatepark. We will even venture over to the nearby woods to see mushrooms and ramps.

$40 a person, $70 a pair.
