IMPORTANT NOTE: DUE TO TOO MANY LAST-MINUTE RSVP CANCELLATIONS RECENTLY: ANYONE WHO CANCELS WITH LESS THAN 48-HOUR NOTICE, NO SHOWS, OR ARRIVES MORE THAN 10 MINUTES LATE WILL BE PLACED ON A 2-MONTH PROBATION AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND ANY EVENTS DURING THAT PROBATIONARY PERIOD.

It's the start of DineLA Restaurant Week, where participating restaurants offer a prix fixe menu at a set price to entice new customers to try them, with the hope that some become returning customers. DineLA will run from Friday, January 23, 2026, through Friday, February 6, 2026. We will begin DineLA with a 5-course dinner (the first four courses served family-style).

Chef Anthony Wang, who previously worked at Michael Voltaggio’s Ink, Eric Bost’s Auburn, and Jordan Kahn’s Destroyer, opened "Firstborn to serve his interpretation of Chinese American cuisine, inspired by his parents’ history in Beijing, summer trips across China, and his childhood in Georgia and Miami. The name is a nod to Wang being the first person in his family to be born in the U.S." (from EaterLA's March 27, 2025 article)

EVENT INFORMATION:
• Please meet us in front of the restaurant shortly before our 7:00 p.m. reservation. Please don't be late as the restaurant may not seat us until the entire party is present.

• Cost per person is expected to be about $90.00 or more, which includes tax and 20% gratuity, plus the restaurant's 3% surcharge on all tables (to provide additional compensation for the kitchen staff), and any beverage(s) or extra food you may order. Please pay by cash, Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo (use my cell number to find my account, 323-318-0787).

• Family-Style Dining: Dining for this event has been designated as Family-Style. The food bill will be split evenly between all attendees. Attendees will be responsible for paying for their beverages. Please note that flexibility is an important part of family-style dining, and if you plan to attend, you must be amenable to the Organizer's ordering. You don't have to eat everything that is ordered, but everyone pays the same amount, whether you eat everything or not. If this definition of Family-Style Dining doesn't feel comfortable, this may not be the right type of event for you. In addition, if you have ANY dietary restrictions or ingredients you do not wish to consume, then you may want to skip this event. Ordering dishes modified to fit someone's dietary needs or personal tastes will alter the true flavors of those dishes for the rest of the group.

• Parking is in the Mandarin Plaza where the restaurant is located. Entrance is at the intersection of Broadway and Bernard St. Parking costs no more than $10.00. Street parking is also available. Be sure to read all signs for any parking restrictions.
