First, what is ALTO?
Drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture of the Rio de la Plata region, ALTO celebrates the time-honored culinary customs of Uruguay and Argentina with a contemporary twist.
Their dishes are crafted using traditional open-fire cooking techniques from the Pampas region of South America, complemented by locally sourced ingredients from California's finest family farms.
Uruguay and Argentina were once the same. On opposite sides of the Río de la Plata, both nations had a lot in common.
Namely, the “Pampas”, expansive grassy plains best known for the quality of the soil and, in turn, the cattle. Although by 1828 Uruguay and Argentina had become independent nations, a rich story of shared food traditions, language, and soil would remain intact until today.
What is the 1-Month Anniversary Special POP-UP?
ALTO welcomes renowned Argentine chefs Clara Corso and Lucas Canga (from Buenos Aires) for an exclusive culinary collaboration celebrating the evolution of contemporary Río de la Plata cuisine. Known for acclaimed restaurants such as Mad Pasta, Garabato Bistró, and Piedra Pasillo, the chefs have become defining figures within Argentina’s new generation of gastronomy and the Latin America’s 50 Best community. For this special event, Clara and Lucas join ALTO founders Chef Esteban Klenzi and Juana Castellanos to create a shareable à la carte menu inspired by the authentic flavors of Argentina’s classic "Rotiserías"—reimagined through contemporary technique and the finest seasonal California ingredients. A menu available only during this two-night special event.

• The meal here is expected to be around $125 or more, depending on how much food we order, any drinks you may order, tax, 4% employee health (insurance) fee, and at least 20% gratuity. Please bring at least $200 in cash (small denominations preferred) to pay for your share of the meal. However, if necessary, I can accept payments via Zelle (which, unlike PayPal or Venmo, does not charge a service fee).
• Family-Style Dining: Dining for this event has been designated as Family-Style. The food bill will be split evenly among all attendees. Attendees will be responsible for paying for their beverages. Please note that flexibility is an important part of family-style dining, and if you want to attend, you have to be amenable to what the group/AO orders. You don't have to eat everything that is ordered, but everyone pays equally, whether you eat everything or not. If this definition of Family-Style Dining doesn't feel comfortable, this may not be the right type of event for you. In addition, if you have ANY dietary restrictions or ingredients you do not wish to consume, then you may want to skip this event. Ordering dishes modified to fit someone's dietary needs or personal tastes will alter the true flavors of those dishes for the rest of the group.
• PARKING INFO: Valet Parking (assume it will be at least $20), and metered street parking only. Be sure to read all signs for any parking restrictions.
