5 Mile Hike in the Hollywood Hills - Difficulty 4 out of 10 (ALL AGES)

Details
Join me for a quick five-mile hike (round-trip) that begins at the Nancy Pohl Overlook and follows the Betty Dearing trail down into Fryman Canyon. The trail is mostly shaded with a number of clearings. You'll see lots of Oaks and Eucalyptus trees. I've occasionally spotted desert cottontail rabbits and even a redtail hawk has made an appearance on two of my previous hikes on this trail. This is a quick hike that usually takes me about 90 minutes when I go solo, but I'll allow for a little over 2 hours to accommodate a range of physical fitness levels in the group. We start going down, then turn around and come back up. The incline is moderately steep in some places, so if you are very badly out of shape or have heart-health issues, you might want to sit this one out.
I'm planning on having lunch at Chao Krung's thai restaurant on Fairfax (near Beverly) after the hike and everyone is welcome to join me. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet for $10.
Rain cancels this event. Be sure to bring hiking shoes and water. Dogs on leashes are allowed, but you must pick up after them.
