Canada's relations with China have been fraught for a number of years - politically, economically, diplomatically, even socially. There seems to be little prospect for improvement in the foreseeable future. But can we afford further disengagement? Can we rely on Western and Asian partners to fill the economic gap? Can we afford to be diplomatically and politically isolated from China and its allies? Can we envision any "win-win"situation for both countries?
