Los Angeles City Bike Ride e-bike OK

It's going to be a beautiful weekend in LA and perfect for a bike ride through the city. This route includes a (optional) stop at the Baldwin Hills overlook where this iconic photo was taken.
Since we don’t often ride downtown and Sunday is the best day to do this, we thought we would tour this portion of the city for which the club is named. From Culver City we will head downtown and ride through the USC campus (another place we almost never ride). We continue to downtown past the Crypto.com Arena (Staples back in 2020) and the new buildings which have sprung up around it. On the way back we will tour some other historic neighborhoods in LA.
This 27 mile ride (easy recreational paced 12-15 mph) will not be hilly except for an optional climb (very steep) to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook which gives an excellent view of the city (the 1200 feet of gain includes this optional climb). It's well worth the effort for the view. The climb is no problem for e-bikes and stronger riders. If the climb is too much for you, just wait for us on the return down.
The LA Wheelmen has only ridden this route once – back on March 1st 2020 before Covid changed the world.

Requirements:
Helmets are mandatory. Make sure your bike is in good operating condition and bring at least one spare inner tube.
This is a self supported ride – there is no SAG. In case of a major mechanical breakdown, plan on calling an Uber or phone a friend.
Bring sufficient liquids/hydration and snacks/energy bar/gels… etc for the ride length and temperature.
Ebike? - OK if it is Class 1 or 3 and you keep a pace consistent with the group.
Guests? - OK - Bring them along or better yet have them sign up.
Parking - Free parking at Lindberg Park (Starting Location)
Restrooms - At Lindberg Park and Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
