Eco-Somatic Walk: Île de la Visitation
Details
Celebrate autumn in community! Join Coral Short and Tatiana Castellanos for a unique eco-somatic walk at Île de la Visitation, easily accessible by bike or public transportation. A cute cafe is located by the river if you need a warm drink or snack before or afterwards.
Experience the beauty of Skowanoti, the 'River behind the island' as known by the Kanien'kehá:ka. This delta channel of the Ottawa River, also called the Back River, flows through the Indigenous territories of Tiohtiá:ke (Haudenosaunee) and Mooniyang (Anishinaabeg), at the edge of Montréal.
We open our journey with a decolonizing land acknowledgement, honoring the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg people who have stewarded these forests for over 12,000 years.
This guided experience offers a chance to:
- Ground yourself in autumn: Feel the crisp air on your skin, listen to the rustling leaves, and connect with the special energy of this season.
- Reconnect with nature: Admire the vibrant colors of the autumn foliage and observe migratory birds preparing for their journey.
- Explore autumn somatic practices: Gentle, centered exercises led by Meditation Teachers and Somatic Experiencing Practitioners will help you release accumulated summer override and embrace the seasonal transition with more ease.
- Cultivate gratitude: Take time to appreciate the beauty around you and thank nature for its gifts.
- Co-regulate in community: Share silence in the company of others while enjoying the gifts of the natural world.
Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a moment of calm, this walk welcomes you. No prior experience needed – just bring your curiosity and an open mind.
