PFAS Forever Chemicals Are Poisoning Us
and The Battle to Save Us

We keep hearing about PFAS "forever chemicals" in the news. Mei-Ling Shek presented to the EcoGreen Group on PFAS at our March 2, 2023 meeting We are going to revisit PFAS and take a look at how we are exposed, what studies have been done, how PFAS has impacted farmers and ranchers, how Dupont and 3M have been able to continue producing PFAS and putting it in a myriad of products, why PFAS has not been regulated, and what legal battles are ongoing.

Mei-Ling taught us that Perfluoroalkyl Substances and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) are a large complex group of man-made chemicals containing carbon-fluorine bonds, and they persist in our environment without breaking down. Thus they are also known as “forever chemicals”. They have been used in a wide range of products, and are now known to exert harmful effects on human health."

We will watch 2 videos that look at the problem with PFAS, followed by a discussion:

There are now many research papers, multiple online videos and a feature film about research into the health impacts of PFAS and the legal and political battle to save our health and the health of all animals impacted by PFAS.
