Addressing the Climate Crisis with Automated Solar System Installation

Humanity faces an existential crisis due to climate change. We have to electrify everything and use electricity from renewable sources. We're nearly out of time, as humanity's greenhouse gas budget will be used up in less than 5 years (with business as usual).
The largest potential source and lowest-cost form of energy is solar (PV), therefore we need to be deploying as much solar as we can, as quickly as possible.

Conventional techniques use lots of steel, driven piles and racking assemblies to build single-axis trackers. Instead we propose ballasted solar mounting techniques on the ground in conjunction with autonomous vehicles to increase productivity.
We have three patents awarded and one full patent filed, and have recently exhibited at the Intersolar trade show in San Diego.

Being a part of the start of the Powerwall journey, seeing a product grow from zero to a million installations over ten years, has set the context for this attempt to have an impact at scale on society's greatest challenge.

Bio:
Dr Carter is founder of Solar Installation Machines LLC, responsible for building out the vision of machines that accelerate the installation of solar systems to address the climate crisis.

He has been working in solar and energy storage and also driving electric for over 25 years. Prior to Solar Installation Machines he was training manager at LG Solar and before that from 2015-2018.
Dr Carter was Technical Training Manager with Tesla Energy, launching the original Powerwall product around the world then Powerwall 2 in the USA and also setting up the installation and service
training program for the Powerpack product.
