Integrating Social Media into our daily Computing Activities

Social Media is now part of our daily life for most of the global population. Example Facebook has 3 billions MAU (monthly active users) and 2 billions DAU (daily active users); compared to a utility knife it has a MAU of 6B, and DAU of 4B, or knife is about twice as popular as Facebook. Youtube and X-platform both have DAU ~200M. In this meeting, we will share our experience by screen share, discuss various social media platforms and answer questions especially for the new users and those who avoided social media due to various reasons --- privacy, addiction, divisive participants, waste of time. Many popular social media are now controllable to fit our needs, setting for notifications and preferences. If we have time at the end, will also show the use of AI (Top AI chatGPT has 200M DAU, Grok 4th place has 10M).

Stephen Ho's bio:
I live a small CO2 footprint, practice 5R's principles (Repair, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Repurpose), and plant many trees for Carbon Sequestration. I became vegan in 2024. My professional biography can be found in https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephenhoprofile/ my career includes research and development of electronic measurement instruments, EE hardware and software in the ATE (automatic testing equipment) designs. After the early exit from the corporation, I entered into the Capital Syndication and Real Estate Agency business. Now I am retired, yet more active than ever.

Felicity Lazo's bio:
I live on a farm on a creek in Central California. I’m a retired educator, artist, environmentalist, farmer and Real Estate Broker. I have dexlexia and computers and social media have been a great contribution to my education. I bought my first computer in 1987. I used it to communicate with parents in my classes. I was a beta tester for googles gmail.
I later learned to use Facebook to look up old friends from elementary school, friends living in different cities and countries far away.
I curate a page called SLO Hand Sew where I file sewing and craft related stories. Histories and techniques. I’ve joined the beaver brigade of atascadero because I have a creek that needs beavers and beavers appeared. I’ve been reestablishing habitats here for 36 yrs. I have several fb pages and i curate a few pages- collections of gardening tips and my favorite is SLO hand sew.
