The Case for Optimism About the Future - Optimism as a Strategy
presented by Kimberly Wiefling
https://wiefling.com/

There always seems to be someone willing to tell you why an idea won't work, offer a negative interpretation of events, or predict doom and gloom for the future. Often these well-intentioned people call this attitude being "realistic" or "practical." What's the catch? This approach ignores the influence of our attitudes and beliefs on our life experience. But it can be difficult to overcome because negative people appear to be smarter!

The way we interpret the events in our lives can have far more to do with the impact on us than the "facts" of the matter. This session explores how to use optimism as a strategy for creating a better future, and how to reframe life's challenging experiences and re-interpret the events of your life in order to find the diamonds hidden in doggie poo and the treasures hidden in tragedy.

This light-hearted presentation touches on how we can use optimism and hope as powerful ways to shape our interpretation of so-called “reality”. We will explore the difference between fact and interpretation, employ the power of commitment to reduce “learned helplessness” and create a shift in our perception, practice techniques such as "acting as if" to create the future we wish to experience, and own the contribution our perspective contribute to shape our "reality". All of this will enable us to “get out of our own way” and open up future possibilities that previously may have seemed unrealistic, like a truly sustainable future for Planet Earth!

Head knowledge alone has never been enough to change anyone, so Kimberly's sessions are highly interactive and engaging. Come prepared to enjoy yourself and explore what's possible for you.
