All are welcome to join our April General Meeting!

A couple months ago, we reached out to the Foundation for Intentional Community (FIC) to see if there's anyone on their staff that follows and focuses on newer communities (which have developed within the past 15 years) that could be a guest speaker for our group at some point. Daniel Greenberg, co-director of the FIC, recommended Cynthia Tina, who has visited over 200 intentional communities.

A lot of the preeminent intentional communities in this country, like Ithaca Ecovillage, Sirius and Twin Oaks, were developed decades ago during different economic conditions. It has become increasingly clear that the economy, housing market, cost of living/materials, and inflation keeps making building new communities harder as time goes by. So it’s important to us to explore which pathways are most sensible and feasible in today’s world.
Along this path, we'll be pursuing founders of communities as guest speakers for EVNJ, but we also wanted to speak to someone who has surveyed the development and attempts of recent communities, and thereby talk to us about the approaches they've seen. The following question will be the focal point for our guest speaker Cynthia Tina on

April 21st:
What trends have you seen among newer communities that have started within the past 15 years?

In the meantime, you can check out Cynthia's website...
