Kealia Boardwalk and Beach Nature Walk - A City Nature Challenge Event

Details

Overview
This meetup will be in support of the second year that the island of Maui will be taking part in the City Nature Challenge. This is a friendly competition to document living diversity - fungus, plant, animal - in urban areas. The event lasts four-day event that starts at 12:01 AM April 26 and runs through midnight on April 29. So, even if you can't join us at the Kealia Pond boardwalk, you can still support the effort over the next four days by recording your natural history observations on iNaturalist and adding them to the CNC Maui project.

To fully participate, you will want to sign up for an iNaturalist account https://www.inaturalist.org/signup and, if you plan to use a smartphone, download the mobile app, available for both android and iPhone users.

To start, we will get an overview of the CNC on Maui, run through the practicalities of how to use the iNaturalist app and the alternative method of uploading observations to the website. Then we'll go over how to make a useful iNat observation and we'll wrap up with a walk down the boardwalk and back up the beach to try out the app and see how many observations we can make in an hour!
