2020 City Nature Challenge: Nature at Home

Details
UPDATE This meetup will continue, but in an "on your own" mode. Feel free to join by taking observations on the iNaturalist app on your own or with your family during the event dates. You can even do this in your own backyard!
We will have two support sessions via Google Hangout to help you setup and use iNaturalist on your home computer or mobile device. Updates will be mailed out to anyone signed up for the meetup just prior to the 30 minute sessions. One on Thursday April 23 at 6 PM and a second on Friday April 24 at 1 PM.
This meetup is part of a 4-day, global event called the City Nature Challenge. This year, in light of the current interesting times we live in, the challenge is also not a competition, but rather a means to collectively (but solitarily) experience nature. Find out more at https://citynaturechallenge.org/covid19/ .
How to participate
-On your own-
Download the iNaturalist app to either your mobile device (android or iOS), register for an account and post observations with a location, picture and your best ID (this could be plant, bird, palm, grass etc.) it does not need to be super specific. Observations will count for the challenge during April 24-April 27.
From April 24-April 29 you can help identify observations to the best of you ability. You can put general IDs on observations with no ID or, if you are good at a particular group - birds, flowers, shells, etc. - you can put more specific IDs on observations. Agreeing with prior IDs is also helpful as we need at least three iNat users to agree on and identification before it is considered "research grade" and counted toward our ranking in the CNC.
