Food and beer - we'll start off with the food and the drinks at 6.30pm. Talks will commence at 7pm.

Talk 1: Operating a multi-tenant Concourse deployment
Speaker: Toby Lorne - a Site Reliability Engineer at the UK Government Digital Service

An overview of Concourse's architecture and network topology with a discussion of its strengths and challenges; and a case study of using AWS and Terraform to provision and operate a multi-tenant Concourse deployment.

Break time discussions - Between the talks we're going to give the audience a chance to nominate a topic they'd like to talk about or bring a problem they are facing as the technology users.

Talk 2: The Garden Gnomes behind the curtain: Concourse’s container runtime
Speaker: Thomas Godkin of Pivotal

Concourse leverages garden to manage the containers it uses to run your CI tasks and this is mostly invisible to you - you just don’t need to care. That said, what’s going on under the surface is actually pretty surprising and interesting - there’s a lot more to containers than people would think.

In this talk, Tom explores the Garden API which concourse uses to manage containers, and follows those API requests right the way through the stack down to the creation of Linux primitives that control process access to virtual and physical resources. In doing so we’ll learn that containers in the way they are most typically thought of don’t actually exist!

Meetup Retro - An opportunity to get feedback on what went well, and what you'd like to see next time.
