2026🥾Forest Park🌲All Trails Challenge🐢Beginner Friendly Version

📜 This is hike #2 in a series of 20 beginner friendly hikes that cover the entire 80+ miles of trails in Forest Park!
Not all of the trails can be done as independent loops (and we will be doubling over our path many times) it will require hiking more than 115 miles to complete the entire challenge. If you miss a hike, no worries, we have this series twice a year and makeup hikes can be arranged. Never the same way twice due to natural and unnatural changes to the park throughout time and space! It’s ever changing, just as it should be!

This hike starts at the NW corner of the Pittock Mansion parking lot. From there we will head down the North side of the hill towards Macleay Park meander a bit before going further down the hill to the Witch House/Stone Castle. After a brief pause for snacks/etc we will head back up towards our vehicles at the parking lot.

Difficulty💪🏽
This IS a beginner friendly hike, as we will be keeping a pace of an average of 2-2.5mph throughout, could be slightly faster/slower depending on groups’ abilities. I try to go as fast as the slowest person will allow me. This can be difficult for some that have sedentary lifestyles, so please don’t be discouraged if at first you don’t succeed, just try try try again.

Carpooling/Driving🚗🚙
Since this is in town, I will not be carpooling myself, but if you wish to do so please organize that on your own in the Event Chat/Comments section.
For those who want to carpool, just know that you should be prepared to drive or take public transit.

Parking/Fees🅿️
There are paid parking spots at Pittock and free overflow spots down on NW Pittock Drive. The park fee is $2 an hr. with an $8 daily maximum.
I would not suggest trying to get away with trying to park anywhere illegally here either, their towing service is a well oiled machine.
