2026🥾Forest Park🌲All Trails Challenge🐢Beginner Friendly Version

📜 The third and final hike starting at this location. This hike will take us up Saltzman until we veer off onto Maple Trail that’ll skirt us just below NW Saltzman (a little O&B on Quarry), and then alongside and below NW Leif Erickson for a moment before leading us o to it from which we will coast Southward until reaching a another O&B up Cleator to get our heart going. With the hard part out of the way we will stop for our break to eat, etc before heading back down Leif, Firelane 4 and Maple back to the vehicles on Saltzman. This hike should prove to be a welcome reprieve to the trio here.

This is hike #10 in a series of 20 beginner friendly hikes that cover the entire 80+ miles of trails in Forest Park!
Not all of the trails can be done as independent loops (and we will be doubling over our path many times) it will require hiking more than 115 miles to complete the entire challenge.
If you miss a hike, no worries, we have this series twice a year and makeup hikes can be arranged. Never the same way twice due to natural and unnatural changes to the park throughout time and space! It’s ever changing, just as it should be!

💪🏽Difficulty
This IS a beginner friendly hike, as we will be keeping a pace of an average of 2-2.5mph throughout, could be slightly faster/slower depending on groups’ abilities. I try to go as fast as the slowest person will allow me. This can be difficult for some that have sedentary lifestyles, so please don’t be discouraged if at first you don’t succeed, just try try try again.

🚗🚙Carpooling/Driving
Since this is in town, I will not be carpooling myself, but if you wish to do so please organize that on your own in the Event Chat/Comments section.
For those who want to carpool, just know that you should be prepared to drive or take public transit.

🅿️Parking/Fees
There are no fees at this location, though space is limited. The address given is for location purposes only. Trailhead is at the end of Lower Saltzman Rd. (Off on NW Saint Helens rd/Hwy 30).
Some choose to park at the bottom of Saltzman Rd and Hwy 30 next to Anderson Roofing and walk the .7 mile up to the trailhead. If you do, please arrive early enough to account for the walk (10/15min).
