Edinburgh Art Galleries Sunday Meetup Group

ART WALK PORTY is an annual arts festival held at Edinburgh’s coastal suburb, Portobello, each September bringing together an eclectic programme of contemporary art, with an interwoven walking, participatory & live arts programme, alongside the creative community of Portobello artists with our Art Houses and Art in Shops programmes.

We will meet at the Festival Hub, 268 Portobello High Street (Annan's Solicitors) at 1pm.

There are a large number of small galleries and artists's houses to visit. I expect there will be a large turnout from our group so we are likely to split into smaller groups. Maps will be available from the Festival Hub.
On the day we can arrange a spot to meet for coffee and cake, from about 3pm.

Established in 2005, Edinburgh Art Fair celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025. EAF is an international art fair with a reputation for showing high-quality artworks from all four corners of the globe. Galleries from throughout the UK, Europe, and further afield descend upon Edinburgh Corn Exchange every year to showcase the works of their artists, sculptors, designers, makers, and creators to a diverse, knowledgeable, and appreciative audience.

The ethos at EAF is to show that art is for everyone and not just an elite few, with a vast selection of original paintings, prints, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, bespoke furniture, and design wares on show. Price range from £100 - £100,000, for unique items, so there is sure to be something for everyone, no matter personal tastes or budgets.

Marking the 400-year anniversary of King James’s death, this exhibition charts his remarkable reign through stories of friendship, family, feuds and ambition. Son of Mary, Queen of Scots, successor to Elizabeth I, King James (1566–1625) was the first monarch to rule over Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.

Drawing on themes with contemporary relevance including national identity, queer history, belief and spirituality, The World of King James VI & I is an enriching journey through the complex life of a king who changed the shape of the United Kingdom. Over 140 objects are on display, including ornate paintings, dazzling jewels, lavish designs and important loans from galleries across the UK, celebrating craft and visual art from the 16th and 17th centuries.
