Turner in January
Details
The much-loved Turner in January exhibition returns to the National.
This is a free exhibition showcasing a selection from the National Gallery's collection of Turner watercolours. Left to the nation by the great art collector Henry Vaughan in 1900, the watercolours are displayed annually following Vaughan’s strict guidelines. These specify that the works should only ever be displayed during the month of January, when natural light levels are at their lowest, in order to preserve them. During the rest of the year the works are kept in storage, so this is the only time when the public can see them.
