Contemporary Gallery Visit and Cafe Discussion

Join us for a relaxed visit to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. We’ll spend time exploring the Contemporary Gallery spaces, looking at modern and contemporary portraits and photography, either together or at your own pace.

Afterwards, we’ll meet at the gallery cafe to chat about what we’ve seen. You’re welcome to do a bit of research beforehand and come prepared to share something interesting about an artist or artwork, but this is completely optional. If you prefer to simply browse, that’s absolutely fine too. We’d love to hear which paintings or photographs you enjoyed most and why.

This meetup is informal, friendly and discussion-focused, with no pressure to be an art expert. Whether you’re curious about contemporary art or just fancy a thoughtful wander and good conversation, you’re very welcome to join.

Meeting place: we’ll meet at the Great Hall in the Portrait gallery at 1pm. Please come 5-10 minutes in advance. We’ll wait around 10 minutes for everyone to arrive.

Contribution: please bring £3 in cash on the day to support the running costs and upkeep of the group. Thank you very much.
