Edinburgh Artist Meetup

From Portobello High Street, turn left at John Street, passing Abercorn Park to the promenade. The "Three Pillars" of the Community Garden are on the right at the esplanade, known as "the old bandstand" area.
I shall be seated facing the sea, I will be working on an A3 sketch-pad so I should be conspicuous. To see a world in a grain of sand.

At 12:00pm I shall be seated in the West Princes Street Gardens between the Ross Open Air Theatre and the Mound, close to the "Baby Elephant". I will be working on an A3 sketch-pad so I should be conspicuous.

The Ross Fountain was installed in 1872 by Daniel Ross. It shows a standing naked woman at the top, above four more naked nymphs representing the Arts, Science, Poetry and Industry.
Dean Ramsay whose church, was nearby called the fountain, "grossly indecent and disgusting".

An unusual assortment of buildings, in particular, the National Monument, a tribute to the Parthenon and the Nelson Monument, built in the shape of a telescope.
At 12:00pm I shall be seated next to the South entrance of the Collective facing Edinburgh Castle, the tower of the Balmoral Hotel, the Scott Monument and the memorial to Dugald Stewart.
These unfinished stones mark unfinished wars - as all wars are.

Et in Arcadia ego. Visit the grave of John Bellany, Artist (1942-2013) there is no need to place flowers, you can leave a bottle of wine, because that is what John would have liked. At 12:00pm I shall be seated on the Central path-way of the cemetery.
Entrance at the Dean Cemetery Gate, Dean Path. Opened in 1846 as the fashionable resting place of the capitals great and good.
There is access to Modern Art Two from the cemetery.
