The Objectivist Ethics
Details
"Why does man need a code of values?"
And
"What particular code of values should man accept?"
These are some of the two most important questions to ask in regard to one's life, but that few people have asked and answered in depth.
Ayn Rand’s essay The Objectivist Ethics is perhaps the most comprehensive presentation of the fundamentals of her philosophy in a single essay. It covers the cardinal virtues identified by Rand, the cardinal values from which they're derived, the standard that is the basis of all value, and the reason why that is the standard.
Rand called Objectivism “a philosophy for living on earth.” We will delve into Rand’s theory in depth, and examine the practical application of it.
Please read The Objectivist Ethics ahead of this Meetup :) The essay is available for free here (also in audio): https://courses.aynrand.org/works/the-objectivist-ethics/
We will be meeting in The Pleasance Cafe, and have a copy of an Ayn Rand book on a table. See you soon!
