Ride to the Sun 2025

Details
Why not join Edinburgh Cycling Club Team on the 2025 Ride to the Sun.
This is an initial placeholder to gauge interest and explore what support ELREC can provide which would enable our selected Team Members to participate.
The ride is a significant physical and mental challenge for those who are not accustomed to cycling 100 miles through the night but the rewards and sense of achievement on completion cannot be understated.
Participants would need to organise their own transport to Carlisle but we would transport bikes and luggage to the start as well as provide a support vehicle throughout the Ride. All we would ask is a contribution towards van rental.
Given the challenging nature of the ride which we would undertake as a Team we would expect participants to join 4 training rides we will organise during April, May and early June or provide evidence that a comprehensive training plan has been followed.
For more details and to register your interest please drop gerry@elrec.org.uk an email stating why you would like to join the team.
From the Ride to the Sun Website:
## Looking for something a bit different? Then cycle 100 miles through the night on lovely quiet roads from England across the border to Scotland on the weekend nearest the summer solstice - 21st June in 2025.
Follow in the footsteps of the Roman legions who trudged the long road from Luguvalium (Carlisle) to the old garrison camp of Caer Amon (Cramond). Sol Invictus was the Roman God of the unconquered sun and was the Roman legionnaires guide through war and battle and it is with that spirit that we ride through the night to arrive for sunrise on Cramond beach, tired but unconquered!
The first Ride to the Sun ran in 2015 when we had 250 riders and 1500 in 2019.
See form below to register your interest - It's FREE to take part, there is a chip shop stop in Moffat after 43 miles, bananas and water at the Crook Inn pub at 61 miles, and hot rolls served at the finish.
