St Margaret's Marsh
Details
Route map: TBC
Ride summary:
We'll head out toward South Queensferry before diverting through the Dundas Estate to take a peek at the castle and admire the rhododendrons if still in bloom. We'll exit the Estate via the White Lodge, head toward the Forth and under the Queensferry Crossing, before climbing up to cross the Forth Road Bridge and down again to St Margaret's Marsh.
We'll wend our way through the paths hidden by the reeds before a picnic lunch on the foreshore, with a panorama across the Forth and the road bridges. Before returning to Edinburgh we'll have a nosey round Admiralty House and catch the view under the base of the other end of the Queensferry Crossing.
30-35 miles long, the ride is predominantly on off-road and segregated shared use paths and quiet back roads. There's a very short section with fast traffic to Lovers Lane from the access to the Forth Road Bridge.
Just in case you're wondering, no, not really hard core cycling 😉
