What we’re about

Welcome to the Edinburgh Existentialist Philosophy Reading Group! We read existentialist texts together, meeting weekly to discuss them.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We meet in University of Edinburgh rooms, but we are a community group and not affiliated with the university; no academic background is necessary. Members have varying levels of prior involvement in philosophy, so even if this is your first read of a philosophical text, please come along!

We love to welcome newcomers, even if we're half way through a long read; don't feel you can't dive in at some point along the way.

Meetings provide opportunities for:

  • meeting like-minded people interested in existential philosophy.
  • much needed peer-support for untangling these infamously unintuitive texts.
  • provide peer-accountability for the very same reasons.
  • and not least, for sharing personal feelings about the texts: "what this means for me".
