Part VII: The Question Concerning Technology, from Basic Writings by Martin Heidegger
Next up, we have Part VII: The Question Concerning Technology from Basic Writings by Martin Heidegger.
Here, Heidegger asks about the essence of technology, and suggests that purely technical modes of thought don't capture what it is - he says that it's ultimately a way of revealing the totality of being. But not necessarily in a good way - because we're at risk of being overwhelmed and overpowered by it. Can our experience of truth and of art rescue us?
Who are we?
We're a reading group that welcomes all - young, old, completely new to philosophy or well versed, from keen students to those who've never darkened the door of a lecture room. We read both long & short texts - but you don't need to have been coming from the start of our longer reads. You can dive in at any point along the way.
We usually head to the pub to continue the conversation after our meetings.
