Part VIII: Building Dwelling Thinking, from Basic Writings by Martin Heidegger

Our last selection from Basic Writings by Martin Heidegger is Part VIII: Building Dwelling Thinking.

In this short essay, the later Heidegger is in poetical mode. Building on his earlier remarks on "dwelling in the truth of being" from the Letter on Humanism, he reflects on the relation between the act of building and our dwelling within the world, and on the kind of thinking that results from our attention to that relation. He also introduces what he calls the Fourfold (das Geviert) - earth, sky, divinities and mortals. Let's see if we can figure out what he means!

Who are we?
We're a reading group that welcomes all - young, old, completely new to philosophy or well versed, from keen students to those who've never darkened the door of a lecture room. We read both long & short texts - but you don't need to have been coming from the start of our longer reads. You can dive in at any point along the way.

We usually head to the pub to continue the conversation after our meetings.
