Friday night lecture series What happens when we die?

April Theme: What happens when we die?
Exploring life, death, and what may come next
Death is something we will all face, yet it’s often a subject we avoid or feel uncertain about. What happens when we die? Is death the end, or is there something that continues?
In this thought-provoking Friday Night Lecture, we’ll explore what Buddhism teaches about life, death, and what may come next. We will explore whether reflecting on death can help us live more fully, if it is possible to reduce our fear of death and how to die peacefully free from regrets.
Far from being a gloomy topic, contemplating death and our own impermanence can help us appreciate the preciousness of our life, to let go of what doesn’t matter, and focus on what truly brings meaning and happiness.
This session is light-hearted, thought-provoking, and interactive — perfect for anyone curious about their own mind and curious to explore life’s deeper questions. The evening includes a short guided meditation, teachings & discussion, and finishes with refreshments, giving you the chance to continue the conversation, share insights, and enjoy a meaningful and through provoking Friday night out.
The Friday Night Lecture series in Edinburgh happens once a month and is designed to be light-hearted, thought-provoking, and accessible.
Each evening includes a short guided meditation to relax and unwind, a lecture on a different topic, time for questions and answers, and ends with a lively discussion over snacks and soft drinks in the café.
We hope you’ll join us for an inspiring evening of learning, reflection, and conversation!
