## Ideodynamics & Induced Chi Flow

An Experiential Exploration with James Tripp & Rowan Ramsay
Join James Tripp and Rowan Ramsay for an in-person exploration of the overlap between ideodynamics and induced chi flow.
This session sits right at the heart of what the Edinburgh Hypnosis and Magnetism Explorers Group is about:
not just talking about these phenomena—but engaging with them directly, systematically, and experientially.

Across cultures and traditions, concepts such as Qi, Chi, and Animal Magnetism have been used to describe subtle, often elusive aspects of human experience—particularly in relation to healing, influence, and connection.
In parallel, the field of hypnosis offers the concept of ideodynamics—the principle that ideas can generate real, automatic responses in the body and nervous system.
In this event, we bring these worlds together.
Not as beliefs to adopt, but as processes to explore.

## What We’ll Be Doing

  • Guided exercises to elicit ideodynamic responses (movement, sensation, and emotional shifts)
  • Practices for inducing and working with chi flow states
  • Experiments drawn from both mesmerist traditions and qigong-based approaches
  • Exploration of attention, expectation, and responsiveness as drivers of experience
  • Opportunities to refine and deepen your felt sense of internal processes

Rather than asking “Is this real?”, we’ll be asking:

> “What happens when we engage these processes deliberately and skillfully?”

## What This Is (and Isn’t)

This is not a lecture or a passive demonstration.
It is a participatory, hands-on exploration where your direct experience is the primary data.
We’ll be working at the intersection of:

  • Ideodynamic processes (how ideas become embodied responses)
  • Induced chi flow (self-organising movement and energetic experience)

You’re invited to engage with both framings—
without needing to commit to any single explanatory model.

## Who It’s For

  • Curious beginners with an interest in unusual or subtle experiences
  • Practitioners of hypnosis, coaching, or therapeutic work
  • Those drawn to mesmerism, qigong, or “energy work”
  • Anyone interested in embodied, experiential exploration

No prior experience is required—just a willingness to pay attention and participate.

## Filming Notice

Portions of this event will be filmed.
You are very welcome to attend if you prefer not to be on camera—however, you will need to take responsibility for keeping yourself out of shot.
If you’re happy to be filmed, that’s absolutely fine too.
