Stop using my data!

Talk 1 -- How can we cope with emerging data requirements? Can blockchain ledgers handle new powers to delete user data on demand? Has contract law switched to place users in control? And must search providers, social networks and advertisers do more than take note when someone says "Stop using my data"? This talk explores an incipient nightmare for organisations, business owners and systems developers.

Going deeper, the talk takes a starting point of the General Data Protection Directive 2016, IN FORCE since May 2016. It then describes how digital users are both spooked and eager to learn more about new data protection rights, and how those rights can break business models -- including models of large organisations like well known search engines and social media providers. It draws to a close with key aspects of how to protect businesses and website publishers from forced change and massive legal costs, and the commercial opportunities available. By it's conclusion, start-ups and large organisations alike, and their advisers, should be in a position to protect from the GDPR rabbit hole.

Mike began troubleshooting digital systems in 1969, by 1976 developing his first microcomputer. Since then he introduced major projects to market, held executive positions with international microcomputer manufacturers, run his own firms, and rescued businesses. A pilot and producer of draft legislation now essential statute for every business, Mike's current passions are systems development and connecting people with commercial ideas to developers and other management team "Lego bricks".

Discussions follow.
