Solo Thursday Microadventure Challenge!

Winter is coming, the clocks are going back soon, and it's going to get really cold and dark soon!

However, for some reason, Thursday has an un-uncharacteristically high temperature of 17° Celsius (62.6° Fahrenheit).
It's not all good news though, as between 5pm and 9am there's a 50% chance of rain 🌧️

In spite of this, we are seeking brave or foolish souls to go on a microadventure and share some pictures and tales with the group!

You do not need to camp out, it can be as little or big as you fancy - perhaps head to the beach and make dinner on a gas stove, take a flask of hot chocolate and drink it up Arthurs Seat, take a walk with a flashlight through some nearby woods, or jump on your bike and explore a neighbourhood you've never visited.

Just do anything that involves being outdoors, and try and make it the polar opposite of sitting on the sofa binging the next big thing on Netflix! (Squid game?)

If you are camping out, be prepared for the rain and make sure you are warm enough!

Share your photos and/or experiences on meetup.com as event photos, and they can act as a point of discussion on the first physical or online get together.

We want this group to work for everyone so will run a host of different events soon:

• discussing various types of microadenture
• 4 season / winter microaventuring
• teaching people how to camp for the first time
• creating a shared map of tried and tested microadventure spots in and around Edinburgh
• physical meetups with people talking about past microadventures, and discussing gear and other topics
• informal drinks where like minded people can get together and discuss future plans
• group campouts, either as midweek microadventures or weekend luxury adventures (no getting up for work!)
• selling/loaning gear and kit
• having fun!

Annoyingly I've picked up an annoying cold (not Covid, got the fancy test) so it's delayed my plans for a proper inaugural Microadventures Edinburgh Meetup event, but once it kicks off for real it is in all our hands to make it a big success. From reading the signup questionnaire everyone is raring to go!
