UPDATED AND CONFIRMED!
Join us for an evening of talks and chat around the world of healthcare, and how mobile apps are driving change for patients and clinicians alike.
We will delve into three main areas - the use of mobile tools for diagnostics, the use of mobile devices with companion devices to connect and empower them, and the applied use of AI to understand and improve mental health.
We'll have 3 interesting speakers covering those topics and will announce the names over the coming days! Places are limited at the fabulous Bellfield Brewery Taproom.
Agenda:
6pm -6.30pm - Arrival drinks & pizza
6.30-8pm - Talks plus Q&A
Speakers
Rayo Verweij is the CTO of UB-OK, leading the technological development and strategy of innovative conversational solutions to support young people's mental health.
A cognitive scientist by training, Rayo is particularly interested in the intersection of human-computer interaction and psycholinguistics with product development and has previously conducted research on computational psychiatry and computer-assisted language learning. With 10 years' experience in web and app development, Rayo has a passion for teaching what he knows to the next generation of programmers by mentoring young people at Prewired in Edinburgh.
Kevin Stewart is Head of Design at Waracle, looking after the company's product design and research efforts, leading a team of design and product specialists which have worked on health-related apps for nearly a decade.
Kevin recently led the product discovery phase for a new insurance app with a twist - it tries hard to keep you away from insurance and focus more on prevention. He'll get into how this app came about and how to balance competing user needs within.
Blair Walker is Head of Marketing and long-standing Product Consultant at Waracle. Blair has a particular interest in new technology and how it affects behaviour change, having spent many years managing digital strategy for health and financial services clients.
Blair will talk about Waracle's recent efforts in early-stage health diagnosis, with a focus on diabetes and using standard mobile technology in new and innovative ways - and how incremental gains can have an outsized impact on the health industry.
The event would be sponsored by Waracle. Please do get in touch if you have any suggestions for format and further content but it seemed good to get things going with one event and take it from there!
