This month we are delighted to welcome the legendary Tom Harries, founder of the Edinburgh Lockdown Economy who will be talking to us about the value of side projects, reflecting on his own experience and learnings.

About Tom
Tom Harries is a Product Designer at UserTesting, a platform that helps companies run remote user research anywhere in the world.

He studied at Loughborough University Design School before spending the first part of his career as an Industrial Designer and Human Factors specialist at Jaguar Land Rover. For the past 8 years he has worked in UX delivering projects for yell.com, Virgin Media Business, Lloyds Bank and Tesco Bank here in Edinburgh.

In 2020 he launched the Edinburgh Lockdown Economy, a community business directory to cope with the changes small businesses were making in the pandemic. The site reached over 700 members and generated over 1 million business page views. He continues to experiment with side-projects alongside his work in Design using no-code tools to help him build fast.
