Watch the Sunrise on Summer Solstice on Arthurs Seat

Friday June 21 is summer solstice and the sun rises here in Edinburgh at 04.26 AM at 43° NE. That means the sun will rise out of the North Sea (well, to be precise the earth rotates towards east so that the sun appears at the horizon) just between Anstruther and North Berwick.
This is now one of the few occasions that unites night owls, early birds and insomniacs and other crazy people at the same time to witness this special event.
We meet at the black kiosk on Holyrood car park and take the direct route up to the summit to be there at 4.15AM the latest, enough time to drink a hot coffee out of the thermos or place our cameras to create spectacular images (above picture was shot June 21, 2018 at 04:30), just before the sun appears.
Since only nightbuses circulate (one every hour) we may have to walk or to ride to the meeting point. Come to the meeting point when you live on the north side of the city, if you live on theSoutheast-, south- or southwest- side of Arthur's Seat you may go directly from East West or South up to Arthurs and meet us at the top, let me know if you do so.
Be aware of the fact that we won't be alone on top, there are certainly others performing some rituals and burning incents...
For now, the forecast for the night from Thursday to Friday is a clear night, if this changes to overcast and even worse to rain, I will cancel by Thursday at 8PM the latest.
It might be chilly and windy on top, so come dressed accordingly.
