Pentlands: Silverburn to Bonaly at an Easy Pace
Details
Distance 7 miles approximately
Time 5 - 6 hours approximately
This is a linear walk and public transport is strongly recommended. Although the pace will be fairly easy, this is still a demanding hillwalk involving up to 4 tops, so please be sure of your abilities before signing up.
From St Andrew Square bus station catch the Houston Coach no 101A bound for Dumfries at 9.25am and ask the driver for Silverburn (see link below). From there we will head for Bonaly via The Kirk Road, Black Hill, Bell’s Hill and Harbour Hill. The exact route will be chosen on the day depending on weather conditions.
From Bonaly, the no 10 Lothian bus leaves for town every 20 minutes.
Warm weather is forecast so please bring plenty of fluids and sunblock. A waterproof jacket is a good idea in case of showers and hiking boots are essential. Jeans and trainers are unacceptable for this walk. There will be a lunch break and several water breaks.
Dogs are allowed but must be on a short lead if there is livestock around or at the request of an Organiser.
Walkers are responsible for their own safety and no member or organiser of the group can be held responsible in case of any mishap.
We are fundraising at the moment to cover Meetup fees and are asking Members to donate up to £5. All contributions are greatly appreciated.
