AI for Writers: Tools, Experiments, and Possibilities
Details
The current pace and scale of AI development make it difficult for any profession to ignore this technology. Yet many writers view AI with suspicion — as something that could make authors obsolete or reduce writing to cheap, machine-generated content.
As a professional AI engineer and an amateur writer, I approach this question from both sides. In this talk, I will share my ideas and experiments on how AI can support the writing process — intentionally leaving aside the obvious case where AI is used to generate parts of the manuscript itself.
Instead, I will present tools and methodologies I’ve explored for:
- conducting domain and historical research
- performing structural editing and manuscript analysis
- generating ideas and inspiration when starting or continuing a writing project
The goal of the meeting is to explore how AI can become a thoughtful assistant in the creative process.
After the 30–45 minute talk, we have a discussion on the topic.
Please join us if you are curious, open-minded, and interested in exploring how AI might support the craft of writing.
Details of the location
We will meet at "The Royal Dick" pub that is located at the back of Summerhall. If we are lucky, we will get the side room just to the right of the entrance, or we will sit at one of the larger tables in the main part of the pub. I will bring a sign for the group that I'll put on the table, but if you still cannot find us please send an email to [[rudmax13@gmail.com](mailto:rudmax13@gmail.com)](mailto:rudmax13@gmail.com) or to the event chat.
