A Brief Survey of the Scottish Witch Hunt : Louise Yeoman
There may be Humanists who feel that witches and witchcraft has nothing to do with humanism, but it may not be so easy to dismiss a cultural phenomenon that is a shameful part of Scottish history. Would being a Humanist have been enough to have led to suspicion, would the mood of the times have led good people with or without religion to persecute others?
We are fortunate to have an expert to provide background and history at a time of year when tales of witches, enchanters and sorcerers flourish.
Louise Yeoman is co-director of the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft
https://witches.hca.ed.ac.uk/ and has published academically on the subject and produced the BBC podcast series 'Witch Hunt' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p07rn38z
The meeting will be chaired by Cathy Crawford.
