Details

We are going to see Hamnet - a recently released film based on the novel of the same title by Maggie O'Farrell. The director of the film is Cloé Zhao who jointly wrote the script with O'Farrell.

It is a largely historical fictional story which concerns the relationship between Ann Hathaway and William Shakespeare and how this is affected by the death. of their son Hamnet.

The film has had a 4 star review in the Guardian which celebrates the acting of Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal who play the pricipal roles.

We will meet in the foyer of the Filmhouse at around 5.30pm - the film itself starts at 5.50 pm. Please buy your own tickets directly from the Edinburgh Filmhouse and you will be given an allocated seat number (Jackie and 1 have booked seats F9 and F10.

The film is scheduled to end at 8.15 pm when the bar is still open so we may be able to discuss the fim over a drink depending on the availability of seating.
