Sunday morning Kaffeeklatsh
Details
Welcome to the sixth Sunday morning Kaffeeklatsch of 2026. The meetings will follow the pattern of 2025, the events normally being held on the third or fourth Sunday of each month unless otherwise informed via Meetup.
Kaffeeklatsch is a German term that refers to an informal social gathering for coffee and conversation. It is an event where you can discuss and chat (in English) with others of a similar mindset.
We only ask that you respect and be courteous to points of view that may differ from your own. Further, it must be noted that viewpoints expressed at the event do not necessarily reflect the Humanist Society of Scotland's policies.
The venue itself is the MF Coffee Shop in the Summerhall building. MF is a ‘small collective comprising farmers, processors, and roasters, facilitating connections between specialty coffee producers in Northern Malawi and conscious coffee consumers in the UK.’ In short, the aim is, through ‘forging a direct link to the coffee’s origin and the farmers behind it’, to skip some of the ‘middlemen’ of the coffee industry and ensure that the growers receive a higher percentage.
Please note that the venue has informed me that food from the kitchen will no longer be available; this will be a permanent change. Coffee and cake will be available. The venue itself is good in terms of location. However, if food is a priority, I'm willing to accept suggestions for a new venue that will provide food; otherwise, we will continue to use the Summhall venue.
There is a disabled-access entrance; follow the signs, which will take you to the side of the building, where there is an intercom you can use to request assistance with access.
