Geopolitics and European Unity
Details
Martin Roche is the communications lead for the European Movement of Scotland and sits on the national executive committee. A mature student graduate in politics and international relations from Aberdeen University, he has been involved in national and international political issues as an activist and professional advisor for over fifty years. He began his working life on a Scottish evening newspaper and has since written for, mainly, business publications worldwide. For ten years, he had a column in African Leadership magazine, writing mainly on geopolitics.
Martin had a forty-year career in international public relations. Since returning to Scotland in 2021, he has become a regular columnist on the Scotsman and often writes for other Scottish newspapers.
Martin's talk will outline the work of the European Movement in Scotland, the evolution of post-war European political integration, the emergence of the post-WW2 "rules-based international order," particularly in the human and civil rights spheres, where the world stands now in these spheres, and why Europe currently is our best hope.
