Curious About Lacemaking? Come Join Us!
Lacemaking is an incredibly intricate, beautiful, and historically significant craft—but it’s also a dying art. This gathering is a chance to rediscover the craft, meet fellow enthusiasts, and build a community dedicated to keeping it alive.
While Alberta doesn’t have a strong lacemaking tradition, that doesn’t mean it can’t have a future here. This is a chance to introduce and grow an appreciation for the craft—not as a relic of the past, but as a skill that can still be learned, practiced, and enjoyed today.
What to expect at our first meetup:
- Meet & Greet – Connect with others who share an interest in lace, fiber arts, and heritage crafts.
- The Story of Lace – A brief chat about how lacemaking evolved, why it’s so rare today, and why it’s worth preserving.
- Shaping the Group’s Future – What do you want to learn? What kinds of workshops or activities interest you? Let’s decide together!
What to Bring:
- Questions and ideas
- A willingness to explore something new
- (Optional) Any lace-related projects, fiber arts, or books you'd like to share
We can’t wait to meet you and start this journey together.
